Then I'll randomly select one when I want to take lunch. I've frozen lasagna, pepper steak, roast & potatoes, stir fry, gumbo, etc... I also use the fresh option too - salad mixes like others mentioned. I'll add a diced chicken breast or other veggies to mix it up.

Have a good school year :-DAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30530177.post-24863743425398559802007-09-02T22:01:00.000-04:002007-09-02T22:01:00.000-04:00I like to bring crackers, grapes/apples and cheese...I like to bring crackers, grapes/apples and cheese like Laughing Cow. I eat that until it's gone, usually by Tuesday because the BF loves it! Then I do the salad in a bag along with chicken and rice and veggies. And please, don't forget the cottage cheese with peaches, fruit cocktail or pineapple!! Yes, it's pronounced beer-rocks, and no, it doesn't have any beer.

It's dead-easy to make. Brown some ground beef or sausage (or a vegetarian substitute) and onions, add some rinsed sauerkraut and heat through. Let that sit and cool while you roll out some regular ol' bread dough (store bought roll dough works fine, or you can make your own). Cut the dough into 4 inch squares, put some sauerkraut mixture on each one and seal up the dough. Brush with egg or milk and bake for 30 minutes at 350. They're great fresh, but they also store and reheat well, and are good cold, too. They freeze well, too, so I'll often make up a bunch and freeze 'em.

Do you think they'd kick us out of Borders if I bring some next week for you and Patty to try?ZaftigWendyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12651525468874456734noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30530177.post-59640561045371325452007-08-28T22:56:00.000-04:002007-08-28T22:56:00.000-04:00ok, granted I am a homeschooling mama so packed lu...ok, granted I am a homeschooling mama so packed lunches really do not apply to me, but if I were sending my kiddos to school they would totally be rocking the bento lunch. Stacy's pita chips and some hummus? with maybe some fresh veggies.
I mean that might get old too, but instead of sandwiches maybe you can make some wraps for yourself.

I'm sorry I'm no help. I used to take pita bread and toast it to dip in Athenos Red Pepper Hummus. It is awesome and you can dip veggies, too. My favorite salad is similar to coastergirl's but I use baby spinach and Light Raspberry Walnut Vinaigrette. It's really yummy! I'll post again when I find my recipe!NoSheep4Uhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12243623863736893085noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30530177.post-2572610089120463502007-08-28T09:45:00.000-04:002007-08-28T09:45:00.000-04:00I have a few ideas, but one of my favs is to crisp...I have a few ideas, but one of my favs is to crisp up some pita bread (can be done a couple days in advance and kept in air tight container) and bring along some homemade salsa for dipping- great this time of year while garden veggies are plentiful! Add tomatos, onions, peppers, cilantro, lime juice, whatever you like! If you're feeling a bit more adventurous, put some cooked sliced chicken and cheddar cheese between 2 pita's or tortilla's and heat until cheese is melted. Slice into wedges and dip into your homemade salsa. I'm getting hungry. :) ~MichelleAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30530177.post-58984061047855072692007-08-27T18:23:00.000-04:002007-08-27T18:23:00.000-04:00Okay, I do the turkey sandwiches as described by ...Okay, I do the turkey sandwiches as described by others with chicken (I get a roasted chicken from the supermarket). When we order chinese for dinner, I will order something extra to take for lunch (usually singapore noodles). And since my husband is middle eastern, I have learned that pita, feta and walnuts (with a wedge of onion, but sometimes I pass on that part) makes a fabulous lunch!MissyJoonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14422705431960119263noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30530177.post-69721746626307581372007-08-27T17:04:00.000-04:002007-08-27T17:04:00.000-04:00Wraps are greatCream Cheese Cranberry Sauce Turkey...Wraps are great

Cream Cheese Cranberry Sauce Turkey lettuce

Another turkey sandwich I like is on Hearty Nut Bread with Cran sauce, turkey and sliced Brie, a little arugula on top is great too.

Another one, I make up and carry with me is cooked elbows, mixed with cheddar cheese and tomato soup to moisten I usually use 1 box of elbows, 4 cups of shredded cheddar and 1 can tomato soup==straight from the can, salt and pepper, Spoon into microwave bowl, cover and heat it up That is probably one of my favorite comfort lunches!!Gracehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07690015792194520754noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30530177.post-11531285139223576992007-08-27T08:39:00.000-04:002007-08-27T08:39:00.000-04:00I always liked baked potatoes. I spread one wedge of Laughing Cow cheese (the garlic and herb flavor is great) on the roll and then add turkey and mixed greens. It makes a tasty sandwich and it travels well in my little cooler. You can also try the plain swiss Laughing Cow with ham or French Onion L.C. with roast beef. Those are also good. I add almond slivers by fresh express, mini mandarin orange slices (can) and some chicken breast out of a can - yummmmmy.
