The time has come!!!!

It's finally here!!!

San Antonio's 2nd Yarn Store is finally open!!!!!

Sunday I stopped by Yarnivore to help for a little bit and here's what I found:

Melanie working hard at getting another shelf put together.

Here's Wendy putting together another spinning wheel.

Great book and magazine selection!

And look!!!
YARN!!! Lots and lots of yummy yarn goodness!

I swear endorphins were released being surrounded by so much yarn. Who needs prozac? Just go help Melanie unpack more yarn!!!

Congrats Melanie!! What an accomplishment!!! I'm so happy for you and wish you great success in this endeavor!!

A Little of This, A Little of That

YUK! I hate that Jeffrey won Project Runway . Blech!!! What do you think?

It's difficult to get excited about knitting a scarf and hat with this yarn:

When the outside thermometer, on October 21st, is reading this:

Seriously, those of you from the north, please blow some of that cool air down here!!!
Thankfully this morning the outside thermometer is reading a windy 50 degrees, so I am enjoying some delicious Creme Brulee coffee (bought the beans at Candlelight last night while out to dinner with some friends) and Pillsbury Cinnabon Cinnamon rolls Mmmmmmmm...another added bonus: The house smells great!

The pictured yarn is from my yarn stash-yay! It's a charcoal colored cashmere blend I bought at a final clearance/store closing sale last summer. I knew when I bought the yarn, it would turn into something warm and cozy. I finally decided (with some input from my SNB buddies) to knit it up into a scarf and hat as a Christmas gift for my brother in Northern MN. I loved the process I used with this-I brought the yarn to SNB last Sunday, asked for some ideas, and left with a great suggestion for a scarf pattern from Last Minute Knitted Gifts which should be arriving from @mazon any day now. I bought some other yarn at that same sale- which to me looked like it got hit with the "ugly stick"- but I bought it anyway (only a true yarn addict would buy "ugly" yarn just because it was on sale) and will see if it can be turned into anything worthwhile once my gift knitting is complete.

I also added to my yarn stash yesterday by buying $30.00 of yarn at the yarn sale at Michael's. I know I just posted a short time ago about my yarn addiction.....BUT BUT BUT...this was NEEDED yarn! After some input from my SNB friends and DH, I decided to stick with the 3 colors I have already knit for the fish blanket and not add new colors. So that meant I needed to get more of the yarn I had been using last summer. PLUS it was on sale!!

I am continuing to knit more warshcloths. I enjoy the mindless(no blonde jokes please) knitting, fast turnaround, and they're practical! What's not to love?? I am casting on the Mason-Dixon 9-Patch warshcloth today (scroll down a bit on the site and you'll see it).

Hmmm..Let's see.....what else is there to report??

Oh Yea!

Someone got a new toy!

DH bought Sophie a toy apple core that squeaks! Because the other 9 squeaker toys she has are just not enough!

What Kind of Knitting Needles Are You?

You are bamboo. Warm, cozy, and thoughtful, you take your time and enjoy how things feel, smell, and taste. You love the craft and beauty of traditional things, and you value the comfort and experience of knitting as much as the results. But while you are reveling in your warm cozies, don't get stuck. Warm is wonderful, but so is the whole wide world!
Take this quiz!

I always was a sucker for those Gl@mour magazine type quizzes! I definitely agree with my description on this although I'm not sure what is meant by "warm is wonderful but so is the whole wide world." It's interesting to me that I came out as "bamboo" needles since I really do like the clinking sound of my metal/aluminum needles much to Janna's dismay :-)

Try the quiz for yourself! You know you want to!

Yarn Buyers Anonymous

I've decided there needs to be a support group for those of us who are addicted to buying yarn-Yarn Buyers Anonymous (YBA)

My name is Knitty McPurlypants and I'm addicted to buying yarn....sigh....

Exhibit A shows the yarn I absolutely needed for immediate projects:

Exhibit B shows what I ended up purchasing in a yarn buying binge:

Let's break it down: I only needed 5 skeins to finish current WIP's.
Yet somehow 4 days and 3 stores later I ended up with 25+ skeins/balls AND the latest knit.1 magazine.

The 5 knitting magazines and oodles of yarn I bought last month were CLEARLY not enough. I don't know when I think I'll have enough time to knit all that yarn! I swear I own more Sugar 'n Cream yarn than what is on display at Mich@el's, Y@rn B@rn and H0bby L0bby combined. Everytime I go, I see new colors I MUST HAVE or discover a new washcloth that I want to make, but don't have the right color. I must admit, I feel a sense of comfort looking at all my yarn and the possibilities it provides. I guess I still have the Northern MN mentality of stocking up for when you're "snowed in." I may not have food, but by God I'll have yarn. Yes, I realize I live in San Antonio and the odds of being "snowed in" are pretty slim, but a girl can dream.

On the fish front, my first funky fish! All of the fish I previously knit have been in solid colors. I ran out of the blue and debated whether to finish with a different lot or a different yarn altogether. I decided to add 2 colors, and thus my first funky fish! I'll knit more of these as I continue in my quest to knit 160 fish.

I love the different colors but weaving in all the ends was a major bee-otch!

Knitty McQUIRKYpants

Thank you to Kristin for this "Quirky" meme. It was pretty fun "owning up" to the crazy things I do.

Six Quirks

Quirk-

A noun 1. a peculiarity of action, behavior, or personality; mannerism

1. Water bottles must be on the top shelf in the fridge. When my DH puts the water bottles in the fridge they are all over the place. That drives me nuts. I end up moving them so they are all on the top shelf and usually clustered together.

2. I am an early bird. I have this fear of being late for things so I almost always show up to events early. I also don't want to be the first person to arrive at a meeting or party, so I'll sit in my car until at least one other person arrives.
See??? Quirky!!!

3. I clean in series of "3's." I vacuum each area of the rug three times(usually in different directions), wipe the counters three times, mop three times, scrub the shower/tub three times if I want to do a "thorough" cleaning.

4. I'm not much of a phone person and will almost always screen my calls at the house. I'm an equal opportunity screener: friends, family, telemarketers. It's usually due to the fact I'm really in to what I'm doing at the moment and know I won't be actively involved in the conversation at that point(I hate talking to people who are obviously distracted) or am tired and grumpy(I'd rather talk to you when I'm in better spirits). I almost always answer my cell phone although I hardly have it turned on unless I'm in the car or shopping.

5. I buy fruit in odd numbers: 5 apples, 3 pears, 7 bananas, etc. I'll even buy "1" of something so the final total # of fruit is an odd number.

6. I like matching hangars. All the plastic hangars in my closet need to be at list the same color although different shades of that color are ok.

What are YOUR quirks?

Fall in Minnesota

This is what Fall is suppose to look like!

These pictures were taken by my Dad over the weekend at the family cabin in Northern MN. Wish I was there!
