Minnnesota Update

Greetings from Northern Minnesota!

It's hard to believe it's already Monday. Saturday, my sister picked me up from the airport in Duluth and within an hour we had stopped at our first yarn store-Yarn Harbor. What a fun little store! No pressure and lots of yarn to choose from. I ended up purchasing 2 skeins of Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sock yarn in the colorway known as "Lakeview" which was appropriate since I was headed up to the cabin-on a lake.

The second yarn store we stopped at by far had the BEST view. It was located right on the shores of Lake Superior and aptly named, Playing With Yarn. I'd never seen so much yarn in such a small space before! They had an awesome Noro selection (sis bought some) but I ended up buying 2 skeins of Mountain Colors Bearfoot sock yarn in Yellowstone and Winter Sky. I've decided to buy sock yarn at all the yarn stores I visit while on my trip. I also bought some Elsebeth Lavold cotton yarn in some warm earthy tones to make a dishcloth for my kitchen.

I brought fish to knit, a blanket I'd been working on, but now I want to knit socks! I'll hit the yarn store in Ely one day this week and may end up purchasing some dpns for socks and of course more sock yarn!

Leavin' On A Jet Plane

Woo hoo!!! I'm officially done with school!!!

Tomorrow morning (Saturday) I will be flying up to MN for a few weeks. Per Mom's request, I will be tranporting the following:

Yep, it's cheese. Lots of cheese (ironic since MN is right next to Wisconsin) but evidentally this is the ultimate of cheeses and she can't get it up there. Hopefully it won't cause a problem.

DH will hold the fort down in S.A. and take care of Sophie. I'm looking forward to some relaxing time (and good quality family time) up at the cabin rather than the fast and furious trips we usually have.

Sister Betsy is picking me up from the airport in Duluth, MN and already has some yarn shops to check out on the way to the cabin.

I can hardly wait!!!

I'll post when I can...

Take care!!

P.S.
I'm still 25/25 on my May Fish knitting Challenge!

Coffee Swap Goodies!

I came home from a VERY trying day at work to a box of goodies from my Coffee Swap 2 partner, Kim!

What a haul! I received Stonewall Kitchen pancake mix and syrup, along with some blueberry preserves. I can hardly wait to make a "pancake breakfast" to enjoy with some of the coffee I also received-Chocolate Macademia Nut Kona Coffee and some Jim's Nora Blend Organic Coffee. To top it off, I received some lovely hand dyed yarn from Jayne's collection. Some of the goodies were nestled in a really cute wooden box!

Even Sophie got some treats! They were eaten too fast to get a pic though!

As you can tell, she liked the treats! (Pic taken with my cell phone camera!)

Thank you so much Kim! What an awesome experience for a first swap!

Meme-7 Random Facts

Yes, I'm still here and keeping up with the fish (110 so far). Just have been busy with end-of-the-school-year stuff-5 more days!
I..am..so..tired!!!!
I think I'll call it a day with a meme. More updates this week though!

I got tagged by Amanda (who's also doing a fish blanket) for the following meme:

Rules:

Each person tagged gives 7 random facts about themselves. Those who are tagged need to write on their own blog those 7 facts as well as the rules of the game. You need to tag seven others and list their names on your blog. You have to leave those you plan on tagging a note in their comments so they know that they have been tagged and to read your blog.

1. I've driven a yellow school bus before. My principal at the time thought it would be a great idea for me(I had a semi-administrative position at the time) to drive around the neighborhood picking up kids for Saturday School. So she sent me to the bus barn to learn how to drive the bus. Luckily the plan got axed from higher ups.

2. I was offered a teaching job in Alaska the same day I was offered one in San Antonio. Although I am really glad I decided to go with San Antonio, I can't help but wonder what my life would be like had I chosen Alaska.

3. When I was younger, I used to unwrap the Christmas gifts under the tree to see what I got, and then rewrap them.

4. I'm not a big fan of talking on the phone. Unless I'm driving in the car then I'll yack with anyone who will talk to me.

5. I'm a major worrier. I get myself so worked up over the stupidest things.

6. I love the Christmas/Thanksgiving holiday episodes of most sitcoms.

7. I took 2 years of German in high school and two semesters of it in college and still can't speak a lick of it.

If you're reading this and would like to participate, consider yourself tagged.

Still Here

Yes, I'm still here....I'm still going strong with the fish, 8 fish in 8 days.
But that's about all I'm knitting these days.
Work is just so busy this time of year..But also exciting in a way too...
We've almost finished replacing/repairing our affected items from the zap of lightning. I'm still waiting for the mother board to be replaced on my 6 month old I-MAC and the timer on our front lawn lights needs to still be replaced but we've taken care of everything else.
Invest in good surge protectors people!!!

Sorry this entry is all over the place but so are my thoughts these days. Thank goodness for calendars and lists!!!

Zapped!

Zapped-that word says it all.

We had a big thunderstorm in SA on Monday and evidentally our cable line (among other things) got zapped by lightning. Because we have cable for everything, our 3 phones got fried, modem got fried, router got fried, and my new IMAC no longer recognizes ethernet or something like that is semi-fried, in addition to the cable and internet not working.....SIGH.....DH bought new phones today, local cable company came out to fix/replace all the cable boxes, modem, etc on Tuesday (after standing DH up Monday afternoon) and my computer is in the shop hopefully only needing a replacement on the ethernet card (everything else seemed to be working) and a new router is on its way. Thankfully we had an extra computer (the one my IMAC replaced) that I am using in the meantime.

But wait...there's more....the garage door opener got zapped along with our front lawn lights. It's been really strange trying to make sense on what got "hit" and what didn't. Or what we haven't discovered yet.

Personally I'm also zapped...physically, mentally, emotionally. It's the end of the school year and it just gets crazy busy...and when work gets crazy busy...people get crazy....can't write about it here but will be more than willing to share the story in person-it's a doozy!!! Thank goodness there's only 17 days left.

Good thing I'm only knitting fish these days! It's May 2nd and I'm still on track-2 fish knit!!!
